Leadership Festival – 22nd April 2026
The University of Cumbria, in partnership with Lancaster & Heysham School Sport Network, is pleased to invite your school to attend a Leadership Festival to be held at the University of Cumbria, Lancaster Campus.
Supported by Dan Morris (LHSSN); This event will be delivered by University of Cumbria Sport students and is designed to provide pupils with an engaging leadership-focused sports experience, promoting teamwork, communication and confidence. The aim is to create a fun and encouraging session for the children, with maximum enjoyment!
Taster sessions
University students are also offering 1-hour taster sessions to Schools registered on to the event, delivered at your school, such as a practical dodgeball taster and offer information about the leadership festival.

Leadership Festival Event Details
Date: Wednesday 22nd April 2026 Location: Sports Complex, University of Cumbria, Lancaster Campus, Bowerham Road, LA1 3JD.
Session Options:
- 10:00am – 11:45am, (arrive for 09:30)
- 12:30pm – 2:15pm, (arrive for 12:00)
Final time allocations will be confirmed with schools once expressions of interest have been received.
Participant Criteria
- Year groups: Years 5, 6 and 7
- Maximum of 10 pupils per year group
Event Format & Outcomes
Pupils will participate in structured leadership-based activities designed to:
- Develop communication and teamwork skills
- Increase confidence through practical activity
- Experience sport within a higher education environment
Facilities & Practical Information
Parking is available at the Sports Complex car park, please meet inside the sports complex reception, and schools will be greeted.
- Toilets and changing rooms available on site
- Pupils should attend in appropriate PE kit, coat, sunscreen and a hat- weather depending.
- Suitable footwear required (no metal studs permitted on astroturf).
- Please bring your schools first aid box.
