DESCRIPTION:SSN Lancashire Small Schools Football Competition- 26th September \n  \nDear PE Co-ordinator \nWe would like to invite your school to enter the Lancaster & Heysham Small Schools County Qualifying Football Tournament. This event is scheduled at LM College’s 3G astro pitch\, on Thursday 26th September. The first games will kick off 12.30pm and will finish approx. 2.30pm\, dependant on entries. Please arrive from 12.00 so we can brief everyone and start on time.  Hopefully holding it early will mean better weather but please bring appropriate clothing/umbrellas for between games if there is any bad weather. \nThis tournament will act as a feeder for a Lancashire County Finals\, meaning the top Heysham area school and top Lancaster area school compete at the Lancashire County Finals\, scheduled for 23rd January 2025 at Fleetwood Town’s impressive training complex\, Poolefoot Farm. \n  \nCompetition details are as follows: \n\nStrictly for schools who have up to 100 pupils enrolled in all KS2 this year. Schools can only qualify from the ‘small’ OR ‘large’ schools events- not both.\nNo spectators during College open times\nTeams of 7\, squads of upto 10 (Year 4/5/6 boys &/or girls\, no minimum ratios).\nDate: Thursday 26th September\nVenue: LM College 3G Astro pitch \nParking/drop off/collection at LMC is always at the rear of College from Torrisholme Road.\nArrival from 12.00 with first match kicking off at 12.30pm\nFinish time will depend on the number of entries but will be  2.30pm. Exact timings and format will be sent out to the competing schools soon after the deadline date.\n1 Team permitted per school\, you may request a second\, but they’ll only be allowed if there is space & will be first come-first served. DESCRIPTION:Dear PE Co-ordinator \nGet involved in a block of Futsal (indoor football) sessions\, aimed at the year 3&4 girls\, these are on October 17th\, November 21st and 28th in the Sports hall at Lancaster and Morecambe College. \nThese are individual dates and schools may attend 1 or 2 of the 3 dates. PLEASE BOOK ON TO YOUR CHOSEN DATES. Each night will be treated as a ‘one off’ friendly tournament.\nThis will be officiated by our partners at LMC and will be held between 4.00 and 5.30 and is open to L&HSSN members only. \nTeams of 5 will play with squads of up to 7 with rotating substitutes permitted. DESCRIPTION:Free for SSN members as part of your membership. At The University of Cumbria Sports Complex\, arrival from 9.00 until 11.30 \nThis course aims to help teachers improve their confidence and gain more knowledge about teaching gymnastics. The course will cover gymnastics fundamentals\, including movements\, planning & equipment with both practical and theoretical aids. \nIt will be a mixture of theory & practical- so please dress appropriately.  Nobody will be forced to join in the practical if you want/need to just observe that’s fine! \nSchools may send up to 2 members of staff & there is the option to hold a version of the course as an INSET for your school for our Inset fee. \nThere is a cafe nearby & coffee machine if you’d like to bring change.  There is parking on the site or along Wyresdale Road.

DESCRIPTION:Dear PE Co-ordinator \nGet involved in a block of Futsal (indoor football) sessions\, aimed at the year 3&4 girls\, these are on October 17th\, November 21st and 28th in the Sports hall at Lancaster and Morecambe College. \nThese are individual dates and schools may attend 1 or 2 of the 3 dates. PLEASE BOOK ON TO YOUR CHOSEN DATES. Each night will be treated as a ‘one off’ friendly tournament.\nThis will be officiated by our partners at LMC and will be held between 4.00 and 5.30 and is open to L&HSSN members only. \nTeams of 5 will play with squads of up to 7 with rotating substitutes permitted. Games of 7 minutes are planned which allow us to accommodate the first 6 schools per week who wish to enter on a\nfirst come first served basis. \nCompetition details are as follows:\n● No spectators as they won’t fit in the hall.\n● Team of 5 with up to 7 in a squad\n● Dates: Thursdays\, October 17th\, November 21st and November 28th – you won’t attend all 3 weeks\, but will be given fixtures per night\, each will be treated as a separate event\, once entries are finalised.\n● Venue: LM College Sports hall\n● Arrival from 3.50pm with first match kicking off around 4.00pm\n● Drop off and pick up from LMC events is off Torrisholme Road at the rear of College.\n● Finish time will be 5.15 to 5.30pm. This year’s guest speaker is someone we’ve tried to get for a number of years and needs no real introduction…. Eddie the Eagle!!! Come and hear from Eddie about his exploits and experiences he went through to represent GB in the winter Olympics; a story so good they made it into a movie! \nFollowing the updates and guest speaker we’ll move on to lunch; Always a real highlight on our post conference feedback! DESCRIPTION:Dear PE Co-ordinator\, \nWe would like to invite your school to enter the Lancaster & Heysham SSN \n4/5/6/7 GLOW DODGEBALL FESTIVAL! \nThis event is scheduled at LANCASTER UNIVERSITY (not University of Cumbria)\, \n on 5th December 2023 9.45-11.30 \nThe event is back and big… in the double sportshall… in the dark! \n  \nTeams: 8 on court\, Squads of 8- 10\, Years 4/5/6/7. \nPrimary- no minimum ratio of boy/girls\, secondary may be boys\, girls or mixed from year 7 only. \nSchools may bring 1 team and request others but last time it was full very quickly. We have a max number of 32 teams. \n  \nThis is a fun based event and we will be asking pupils to display honesty.  Those not playing a game will officiate their own games.  It is not about winning and losing- we simply want a group of pupils to come along and have fun being active\, work as a team and be with their friends and be at a bigger event again.  Because of the darkened setting it has been shown to be particular good for pupils who may be more self-conscious than others. \n  \nGlow dodgeball takes place in a darkened room with ultraviolet lights that cause balls and players equipment to glow!  It’s something a little different- hopefully you can pick a ‘different’ group of pupils.  Secondary schools- we’d encourage you to consider choosing pupils who have possibly struggled with transition but would benefit from a fun session with peers. \n  \nThere will not be an overall winner.  Instead we will reward schools on ‘The Spirit of the Games’ values which are Determination\, Honesty\, Teamwork\, Passion\, and Self Belief.  Hopefully it’s an opportunity for you to pick a targeted group of pupils of your choice.  On your feedback forms you suggested transition was a potential issue we hope this will help… Last year we had several Year 7 Heads of Year attend with their teams and found that very useful in building relationships; and lastly\, pupil health and wellbeing has been mentioned\, this is a chance to have fun\, be active and work as a team! Pupils not playing will also have a chance to officiate.  Please dress up in your best fluorescent clothing!! Teachers may be required to plug gaps but formats will be informal- it’s fun based!\nWear any luminous clothing and/or use UV pens to draw on old clothes. All those children of the 1990s- dig out your old glow sticks and wrist bands!! Fluorescent clothing and white work best. DESCRIPTION:SSN have tasked Lancaster & Morecambe College sports students with delivering a year 1-2 Christmas-themed multiskills event and party.  Something a little different!  This is purely a fun even with no overall winners but is a chance to perhaps reward certain children or give new children a chance to represent your school\, or even just have some Christmas-based active fun!  We have a limit of 110 children in total first come\, first served. \n  \nKey information- \nFor any SSN member schools \nDate-11th December – 1.00 start-2.30 \nArrival from no earlier than 12.30\, we will start at 1.00. \nVenue- Lancaster & Morecambe College\, sportshall. \nPick ups & drop offs and parking for all college events is only available at the rear of college off Torrisholme Road & walk through to the Sports Centre. \nMixed teams of 1-12 pupils from years 1&2.  1 team per school. No minimum numbers/ratio of boys/girls. SUMMARY:SSN Small School Sportshall Athletics Qualifier
DESCRIPTION:Small Schools Sportshall Athletics:   To be eligible schools must have less than 80 pupils in KS2 in total. \n  \nDear Colleague \nI would like to invite your school to enter the Lancaster and Heysham Small Schools Sportshall Athletics competition at Lancaster and Morecambe College on 12th December 12.00 start until 2.30pm.  The event will be delivered by Barry from LHSSN & the fantastic LMC staff and leaders who already organise the year 5 and 6 Sports hall Athletics League. Each team should consist of six girls and six boys. All athletes can be taken from any year in key stage 2 (years 3\, 4\, 5 and 6). \n  \nThis event will act as a feeder for the Lancashire County Finals\, meaning the highest placed Lancaster area school AND the highest placed Heysham area school will have the opportunity of representing our areas at the Level 3 County event which is on 19th March 2025 at Blackpool’s Stanley Park.  Barry ‘Mr Sportshall’ Robson will again be leading on this event as part of his work with us and your LHSSN memberships- thanks for your support. \n  \n\nSmall Schools Sportshall Athletics County Qualifier (must have less than 80 pupils in KS2)\n12th December \nArrival from 11.45 for a prompt 12.15 start\, 2.30 finish.\nParking and drop off/collection for all Lancaster and Morecambe College events MUST be accessed from the rear of the college off Torrisholme Road- please inform any parents. DESCRIPTION:Booking for Session 1 – Session 1- 17th December  9.30-11.30 \n  \nWe would like to invite your school to a \nYear 3/4 Disney Active Literacy & Multiskills & Girls Football Activity \nLancaster & Morecambe College \non 17th December  \n  \nLHSSN deliver Barclays Girls Football Partnerships work to help Lancaster\, Morecambe\, Heysham & South Lakes schools access various aspects of teacher training and resources.  One key area is ‘Shooting Stars’ which is based around Disney storytelling that becomes a multiskills and active literacy type activity.  It includes booklets based on The Lion King\, Aladdin\, Frozen 2\, Incredibles and Toy Story 4; that anyone can pick up and follow with teachers\, support staff and even sports leaders! \nPupils will move around a series of stations- They will be delivered by College Students with taster sessions based on the resources & some fun girls football based drills…. & we even hope to have face painting (please ask parents for allergy info beforehand). \nSchools must also be registered on this free FA website please! It’s full of resources and the possibility of getting your own staff trained in the Disney activities and download the resource booklets\, all free\, all part of our work. \n  \nSummary: \nTeams: Groups of 4-10\, girls only. \nA targeted group of pupils from year 3/4 \nSession 1- 17th December  9.30-11.30  \nSession 2- 17th December 12.30-2.30  \n  \n\nPupils need PE kit\, trainers and a drink.  If you have any Disney costumes\, other related fancy dress\, or face paints we absolutely encourage you to use them!\nActivities will be multiskills based physical activity with a Disney Literacy Theme-Any local schools & South Lakes schools can now access resources and training because of work on this programme- more info on the Girl’s football and Disney schemes here: https://girlsfootballinschools.org/\nSchools should bring their own first aid kits.\nPlease arrive as close to your slot time as possible.
