SUMMARY:SSN Delivering Gymnastics- Staff CPD
DESCRIPTION:  \nFree for SSN members as part of your membership. At The University of Cumbria Sports Complex\, arrival from 9.00 until 11.30 \nThis course aims to help teachers improve their confidence and gain more knowledge about delivering gymnastics and how you can better use your schemes of work such as PE passport. The course will cover gymnastics fundamentals\, including movements\, planning & equipment with both practical and theoretical aids.  Particularly useful for any teachers who are uncomfortable delivering gymnastics- please fell free to submit any questins prior. \nIt will be a mixture of theory & practical- so please dress appropriately.  Nobody will be forced to join in the practical if you want/need to just observe that’s fine! \nSchools may send up to 2 members of staff & there is the option to hold a version of the course as an INSET for your school for our Inset fee. \nThere is a cafe nearby & coffee machine if you’d like to bring change.  There is parking on the site or along Wyresdale Road. \nThe course is not certified but is delivered by Level 2 experienced coach and a qualified primary teacher. It is something that has been reguarly requested and delivered previously.

Therefore we will be\noffering the programme again this year as part of the SSN offer.\nThis year’s offer is scheduled for November 13\, 20 and 27 in the Sports hall at Lancaster and\nMorecambe College.\nThese are individual dates and schools may attend 1 or 2 of the 3 dates.  Each night will be treated as a ‘one off’ friendly tournament.\nThis will be officiated by our partners at LMC and will be held between 4.00 and 5.30 and is open to\nL&HSSN members only.\nTeams of 5 will play with squads of up to 7 with rotating substitutes permitted. Games of 7 minutes\nare planned which allow us to accommodate the first 6 schools per week who wish to enter on a\nfirst come first served basis.\nCompetition details are as follows:\n● No spectators as they won’t fit in the hall.\n● Team of 5 with up to 7 in a squad\n● Dates: Thursdays\, November 13th\, 20th and 27th – you won’t necessarily be required to\nattend all 3 weeks\n● Venue: LM College Sports hall\n● Arrival from 3.50pm with first match kicking off around 4.00pm\n● Drop off and pick up from LMC events is off Torrisholme Road at the rear of College.\n● Finish time will be 5.15 to 5.30pm. DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\, \nAs part of our new Wellbeing Programme\, we would like to invite all LHSSN Schools PE leads and support staff for a get together on Friday 17th October for a walk around the Fairfield Nature Reserve in Lancaster and then a drink in the Water Witch Pub afterwards! \nIt’s always great when we meet up at conferences and events and this would give staff the opportunity to share good practice\, meet and check in with colleagues\, as well as have a drink and a chat! \nThis is an extra event added this year for LHSSN schools as part of a wider programme of wellbeing events for LHSSN School staff. \nWe will meet at Lancaster Train Station at 4pm on Friday 17th October. The week before the last week of half term. \nWe’ll have a walk around the Fairfield Nature Reserve before finishing in the Water Witch pub for a drink afterwards. \nThe walk itself is short\, very accessible and will take from 30 mins to 45 mins to complete. Please come prepared for the Lancaster weather with a sturdy pair of shoes\, waterproofs and a spare drink. \nThere is some limited parking at the train station and on the bridge adjacent to the main entrance\, or on the pay and display car park on Dallas Road. DESCRIPTION:We are holding a staff drop-in session for all your PE admin such as your School Games Mark\, Inclusive Health check\, or your Premium reporting\, or if you’d like to discuss anything regarding your SSN memberships\, or other questions. \nThe idea is people should try to come from 2.15 and we’ll be there until 4.45 & play badminton around it.  LM College will also kindly provide teas\, coffees and pastries! \nIn the meantime staff are welcome to get involved in a staff badminton session downstairs in the sportshall before or after you’ve asked your questions and done your PE admin.  You can be a single player or bring a doubles team or 2.  People can then do their admin and unwind against other  staff… or just do admin and leave/watch… or just do badminton… alone or with others from your schools!
