Event description

GIRLS FUN FOOTBALL @UoC

Dear Teacher,

Following on from the success of a similar event last year, Steven Jamieson and Dan Lofthouse would like to offer local schools the opportunity to bring a KS2 girls football team to the University of Cumbria on the 18th March from 10am-12pm (arrival from 9.35 at the earliest).

This event will be on the astro-turf so please bring appropriate footwear (no boots). You can bring more than 1 team if you have enough players with teams of 7 and squads of up to 10 girls.  Please ensure you let us know how many pupils you intend to bring. If you don’t have enough girls for a full team please let us know and we’ll mix any schools in the same position up to make a team.  Please don’t let your girls miss out- we will find a way!

The idea is to make it a fun day where the girls can come and play football exclusively without the boys. There will be skills and drills delivered and fixtures played between the schools afterwards. There will be certificates and medals on the day. This event is designed to be fun and not all about winning.

This event is FREE to you, all we ask is that you ensure your school is registered on the DfE’s national school sport website; https://www.yourschoolgames.com/app/users/login/?next=/app/ Entering events like this will also help towards your Gold, Silver or Bronze, School Games Mark applications- remember the Marks don’t roll over from previous years!  And look at The FA’s girls football website which is again free and has some great resources including some sponsored by Disney- http://girlsfootballinschools.org/ when visiting please make a pledge it literally takes 1 minute and counts towards their funding data.

The deadline for entries is the 8th March 2020.

There is parking at the sports centre or an Wyresdale Road, or Williamson’s Park car park.  Parking on campus for minibuses or coaches needs to be made in advance by contacting the University's Estates Dept (Adrienne Waldie: [email protected]).

Register to attend via www.lhssn.co.uk or email Dan on the details below.

Many Thanks,

Daniel Lofthouse
