Event description

We need to have recieved your results before today!  Good luck!

Given the continued issues with Covid19 we have decided to offer a virtual Dance event, with the winning Lancaster and winning Heysham area schools getting the chance to perform their routine at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens in May 2022!

The attached document outlines the LANCASHIRE round of the competition but to allow you to practice your routine more efficiently we will mirror the event locally.  Our local event is as follows;

We have a secondary event which can be separate KS3, KS4 or both- schools can enter one routine into one or more age category.  There is also an open aged primary version- primary schools choose one routine from any year group, or a mixture of ages.

Overview:

Theme: Unlocking Wonderland' explore the depths of the imagination inspired by the Birmingham Commonwealth Games Festival, and all that the Commonwealth represents.

Team sizes: Anywhere between 4 & 30 participants of any gender make up.

Age: Primary- any age;   Secondary- KS3 &/or KS4

Routine length: 2.30-4.00 minutes.

Each routine will be judged on the following four categories totalling 100 points:

1. Concept and soundtrack (10 + 5 points)

2. Choreography and Floor Use (20 +15 marks)

3. Performance Skill (20 points)

4. Overall impact (30 points)

Judges’ criteria and score cards are available in the Dance Competition Toolkit, on www.yourschoolgames.com

Once you have planned your routine, perform it in school, perhaps in an assembly, and record it and pass it on to us along with the form below, via one of the following methods and it’ll be independently judged.

Send the recording to [email protected], or post on your social media and ensure you tag us @LHschoolsport, alternatively; Hand in/post a pendrive to Steven Jamieson, Our Lady’s Catholic College, Morecambe Road, Lancaster, LA1 2RX and we’ll be sure to return it to your school promptly.

The deadline for receipt of your performances is strictly 25th March 2022 then due to varied Easters; winners will be notified in as soon as possible in April to give you time to polish your routine ready for the Lancashire performances at the prestigious Winter Gardens on 18th May!  Tickets for the finals will be required for any parents and details will be sent prior. I look forward to seeing the shows!
