As part of our continued partnership with the Unversity of Cumbria- we have put together an Active 60 Minute festival to get pupils up, active and having fun!
Dear Primary Teachers
I am writing to you to invite you to a University of Cumbria student-led sports event, the ‘Active 60 Festival' on Weds April 27th. You can attend either between 10-11.45 or 1-2.45pm.
This festival is all about getting pupils more active, more often: and is specifically for primary school children because the inactivity of children is a growing issue. The aim of the ‘Active 60’ campaign is to encourage children to take part in vigorous physical activity for at least 60 minutes a day, which is in line with the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines.
Our event will promote this by providing your pupils with their daily 'dose' of sport and exercise. On the day of the event, your students will come to the university and take part in a range of activities, all linked to fundamental movements e.g., throwing and catching. Drinks and snacks will also be provided. It is expected to be a day full of fun and excitement for the children.
Alongside this event, we have been running various fundraising events to raise money for St. John’s Hospice, a charity close to many of our hearts. So, what we are asking from you is a single-entry fee of £20 or evidence of your own fundraising events within the school, for example doing an active mile at school, or a non-uniform day.
If this event sounds right for your school, you can register your interest through this email via the entry form. The only requirements from you are that you have 20 children aged 7-9 who are eager to participate and your choice of entry fee or fundraising. The deadline for applications is the 31st of March.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Grace Wakeman
