For SSN Schools- Fun and friendly taster of Tennis- if you have strong tennis players, they'd be more than welcome to come along and coach and score your teams matches, please just let us know!
I would like to invite your school to take part in a Lancaster and Heysham SSN Year 3/4 Mini Tennis Red festival, Friday 8th July 2022, at Lancaster Tennis Club (astro courts), 1.30 pm start time and approximate 4.30 finish time (dependent on numbers will confirm after entries received). There will be time around games for pupils to eat lunches if required.
This event will be a fun and friendly festival style event. Pupils will play friendly tennis red matches.
Details of the competition are as follows:
· Date: Friday 8th July
· 1.30 for 4.30 pm start time, please arrive promptly
· Select players from year 3/4
· Teams are made up of 2 boys and 2 girls – Schools may request additional teams.
· Formats will be sent out after the deadline entry date.
· If schools have a mini tennis equipment set (racquets/nets), please let us know. We will also have equipment there for use of those schools without their own.
Rules and Regulations
· Mini tennis scoring uses 1, 2, 3, 4 etc, matches will be played to a match tie break and will be the first to reach a score of 10. Maximum times per match will also be used, with the leading scorer at the whistle winning the match. We may ask pupils or staff to score matches- but to reiterate; they are purely friendly matches. Any scoring will be on School Games Values- e.g. Honesty and Self Belief.
· The serve will be decided by a toss at the start of the match
· The nominated person serves for the first point and it then alternates every 2 points
· When serving players should stand behind the inner back tramline. When serving, the ball must not
be bounced before server strikes it
· The serve must be underarm
· Players stay at the same end of the court throughout the whole match
· Official mini tennis red sized, short handled racquets to be used. Schools may use their own and we will bring some if schools need to borrow any.
The deadline entry date for these competitions is 28th June.
